The Major Pentatonic scale is used for improvising over " Country " & Major sounding chord progressions. It is actually the same scale as the second mode of the Minor Pentatonic scale. If you know all the modes of the Minor Pentatonic you will already have learnt all the fretboard fingering patterns. Just remember that it is the Major Pentatonic you are playing so that you don't get confused with which scale you are using.
