Now that we are familiar with the basic interval patterns on the fretboard, lets add some other intervals to our basic patterns

For example lets use our Major 3rds pattern, but add a Major 2nd to the equation. So I suppose we could say we were playing 2nds x 3rds. (fig 1)

The combinations of two Intervals will yield many interesting patterns. Find the ones you like by making up your own, then familiarise yourself with the sound of the pattern. Try using it over different chords to get the best effect. Intervalic patterns are very useful as a connecting bridge between chord changes.
